Oh my such a loss! We are so shocked to hear of Johns passing . Our sympathies go to John's family and Dee . Hang in there sister of mine , the Holidays are the roughest, and after talking to you today I felt I needed to write this . " Sweet Cheeks " is looking over us , and guiding us with his marvelous Navigation skills . We will miss John , and I just don't have enough words to tell you how sorry we are .
Love the Brady Family

I only had the pleasure of meeting John a couple of times sorry to say. I really would have loved to know him better. He made me feel as though we were buddies from long ago. So very sorry for this loss.

When I first started working for Salem County Correctional Facility as a nurse and not really sure what I had to be thinking in taking the job it was John and Dee that helped me work through many shifts . John would always make me laugh , make fun of me at times that in turn made me laugh at myself . He was the sweetest and kindest man . My heartfelt sympathy to you Dee and to John's family . Dee you had the pleasure of having such a wonderful man in your life and a true friend . We all...

Who can tell John's whole story? Certainly not just one person. It is good to read so many friends and strangers relate the same description of this honest, fun loving, and very capable sailor. A Coast Guard reserve Boat Coxswain and Captain in his own right, John was always eager to take whatever job that would help whichever boat he was on. And if you were Captain and lucky enough to have John aboard, you could rest assured that he was always in the right place at the right time, looking...

We were attached at the hip . Now I'm limping as I'm off balance . At this time my laughter has gone . I'm getting by with a lot of help from OUR friends . A great co worker , care taker, biggest and best hugger , and the ability to make you laugh . sigh...
I miss you .

John was a great guy and a good Officer. I liked working with him and Dee on many occasions. Life takes us seperate ways sometimes and I remember his devotion to his work, his family and his projects. My condolences to his family and friends.

John Parlapiano or JP as Dee fondly called him, will always be remembered with a smile. He was a good man. He loved the sea, family, friends, and Dee. He could tell a good story and bring a smile to your face as he wove his tale. A good friend of days gone by.... It was an honor to have known him.
God bless John.

Dee, We are surprised and saddened to hear of John's passing. You and John are a cherished part of our Meerwald memories (Crew 1999-2000). We share our shipmate Doug Christel's heartfelt sentiments: John made our jobs easier and our smiles bigger. What a larger-than-life positive presence he was!
