JOHN PAULES

John was my best friend between the fifth grade and the ninth grade at Audubon Junior High School in Los Angeles in the 1930s. I remember him as the tallest kid in the class, and probably the smartest too.
No one disliked John because he didn't have a mean bone in his body. We lost contact when he went off to Los Angeles High School and I went to Dorsey High. He went to LA High because they had ROTC there and he wanted to be in the military like his dad.
