John A. Peebles Sr.

John A. Peebles Sr., 81, Goshen, died 12:32 a.m. Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Courtyard Healthcare, Goshen. He was born July 23, 1933 in Rockford, Ill. to Loyal & Ethel (Scharning) Peebles. He married Donna (Frewin) Peebles on Sept. 20, 1952 in Rockford. Surviving are his wife, Donna, Goshen, son, John A. (Donna) Peebles, Elkhart, daughters, Karla Chester, Loves Park, Ill., Lola (William) Brainard, Warren, Ill., Karen Chester, Goshen, sister, Mary Dahlstrand, Davis, Ill, sister-in-law, Delores Peebles, Rockford, Ill., foster brother, Lloyd "Sandy" Sondell, Byron, Ill., 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents, a brother Richard Peebles and a grandson, Cody Chester. John worked in production inventory control, retiring from Walker-Tenneco, Goshen, after 10 years and at Metalcrafters, Goshen for 35 years. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Greene Road, Goshen, where he was very active; and a member of Promisekeepers and Rotary Club. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church, 202 S. Greene Road, Goshen and one hour prior to the 1 p.m. service Thursday, April 2, 2015 also at the church. Pastor John Hickey will officiate. Memorials may be directed to the Faith Lutheran Church.
