Not sure what to say?

Great leader and good friend. I miss the good times at Hedges!

It has been a year, and not a day has passed since than, that I haven't thought of John, and all the good he did in this world. What an honorable, wonderful person he was.He is probably working in heaven at the hall of records, reading history, I am sure Notre Dame games are being replayed. We miss you John, gone but never forgotten.

I am richer for having known John Pestka, a principled man who always was willing to share and help us learn. I will always remember "Pestka's Precepts" as direct and practical approaches to life and it's challenges.

We shared so many things: love of all things Greek & Roman, balancing a checkbook to the penny, Notre Dame, "24" and "Deadwood", and shopping. I could listen to his Xerox and military stories and feel the pride. He was a teacher, a protector, and a big influence in my life, and I miss him dearly.

Words cannot express my gratitude and thanks for all of your support during this healing process. I have been overwhelmed by the tributes in this guestbook and the sympathy cards I have received. Although this is a very painful and most difficult time in my life, you have shown me a friendship and affection for my son that I never knew existed in such numbers, and with that, a little peace of mind that he left behind some wonderful people who thought so highly of him.
Thank you for...

I will miss hearing John's voice on the phone when he would call to talk to my husband Kevin about Notre Dame football. If Kevin wasn't home, John would fill me in on the latest ND news. We would have some great conversations. I will miss his insights and his humor. There is an empty space in our hearts.

I first met John in 1961 when we both were freshmen at Notre Dame, living just a few doors from each other in Cavanaugh Hall. We became close friends, and that strong friendship continued for 45 years. John loved Notre Dame, and he especially loved Notre Dame football. John and I attended many ND football games together, and we had countless phone conversations discussing the latest ND news, analyzing games, and keeping each other abreast of any recruiting information. John was a man of...

It was a pleasure to work with John, he was a person you could trust to be honest.
