KINGSLEY — John Louis Pfau, 77, died on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at his home in Kingsley.

John was born on Feb. 18, 1931, the son of Theodore and Florence (Heistand) Pfau. John was wed to Bernice (Schmuckal) Pfau on Jan. 16, 1965, in Paw Paw. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 324 and the owner of Pfau Excavating for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling.

John loved his grandchildren and his cat, Nala and his "smoking buddy" Buster the Boxer. He was dedicated to his work and was determined to raise his children with a strong work ethic.

John is survived by his wife, Bernice Pfau; children, Pam (Glen) Roop, Pat (Jan) Haines, Michael (Shelia) Pfau, Trina (Mike) Schueller, Don Pfau, John Pfau, and Tam Leonard; sisters, Margaret Zagar and Beverly Herwick; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and lifelong friend, Stevie Geresy

His parents and brother, Richard Pfau, preceded him in death.

Visitation will take place today, Nov. 4, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Kingsley Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home.

Trina and Family, I am so sad to hear about your Father. I hope time will ease your pain. Your dad was always nice to me when I was little, and I will always remember his sense of humor. If you need anything, we are here for you and Mike.

We were so sorry to hear about John's death. May God be with in this time of grieve.

John and his boys always did my excavating work. He was always prompt and did good work. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed.
