John "Jay" Phelps West

Many classmates at the prep school I attended from 1956 to1963 I found superficial, snobbish, and supercilious. One who was not was Jay West. Even though I did not know him as well as others, I sensed his fairness, an indelible, inherent decency. That, as well as his unassuming intelligence and overall modesty, I always admired, even to the extent of seeking him out years after we had lost touch-2016 or so. He was the same. Knowing Jay was one of the happy parts of my life.

Judy and family I have you in my heart as I just heard of Jay´s passing. From one of Jay´s fellow preppies from rival Andover I will always remember his kind soul, sense of humor and smile!

Condolences... Just hear of Jay's passing. Very sad. Where did all the years go?
