John B. Picking

John was a friend of my husband, Solomon Sylvan. I only met John a few times, but each meeting was filled with gentlemanly manners and joy. John helped my husband a number of times with projects on building, developing and real estate. My husband considered John an exceptional friend. Katherine Sylvan

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing,I lost contact when I moved To Roseville Ca. He was my cousin,I lived in Hartford Ct. and would spend part of our summer vacation in Detroit with my Uncle Tom and aunt Sarah.My dad was Chris Picking also a Detective in Hartford Ct I remember those days and the Picking boys also Alice Mary and Florence Ann " Those WERE THE DAYs " as they say May he rest in Peace.

I have known John since I w3as 16,
He played a very important roll in my life! He taught me the single family realestate busines! When I was a young builder he sold my houses.
We kept in touch no matter where I have lived. In recent years he always called me on his birthday in December. And if weneeded each other we were always there! He was avery important person inmy life. A very special man! /Sol Sylvan

John was my handball mentor in the 1960's at Considine Rec Center in Detroit. He always found time to include me in a game. He had a wonderful dry sense of humor. Over the years we remained friends. He was a fixture at the US Handball Three Wall Nationals in Maumee OH. May we someday share a handball court in Heaven.
