Not sure what to say?

I was deeply sadden to learn of John's passing. I had the honor of being his Battalion Sergeant Major in 1968-69 of the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines in Vietnam. will always remember his kindness and sense of humor.

Lois and Ami--I was so sad to read of John's ( Colonel's ) death. In all my years in education, I've never met anyone like Colonel P. He was an exceptional teacher and a wonderful person. John never failed to ask about my boys and expressed interest in their lives. We exchanged many "grand horse" stories, Ami. He was always so proud of you and beamed when he talked about you.

Ed and I will keep you in our prayers. We'll always remember John and his friendly ways. We could...

There are not many teachers that leave as lasting an impression on his students as Col. Poindexter. We are so sorry to hear about John. Our thoughts are with you and Amy. Kris & Vance Stillinger

The Colonel was a fine man and officer. I had the privilege of serving under him in Vietnam as a Platoon Commander, as a S-3A, and he offered the command of a company. In all capacities he never dropped the ball.

‘Col. P’ was brilliantly witty, interesting & fun, and the contagious enthusiasm with which he approached teaching made it my first experience in a ‘college-like’ environment. His magnetic charm and sincere appreciation for knowledge made students genuinely want to be there to interact with and learn from him (of course, his hilarious animated jingles never hurt either).

As we all...
