Sadden to learn of Mr. Pope's passing, he was a great teacher . I respected him like a dad. He wanted his students to excel and was a great mentor. He taught me history at work study high school where he preached to pursue our education I contribute his mentoring to receiving my Doctorate degree in Philosophy . Rest in Peace Mr Pope.

I miss John every day, those great stories and fellowship. His legacy will always be everlasting. Thank you sir, job well done.

John Pope was a pillar of the Kentucky State University Gateway Chapter. He was a big part of the huge success we had with the Gateway Classic Football. I am going to miss my fellow alumni and my friend. Rest easy 'Sir', job well done.
