A best man who became a friend due to shared political beliefs, concerns and campaign. A great dad to his daughters and husband to a supportive wife. I suffer his loss and I will miss him!

John was an amazing person who was so self- effacing and modest that you have to be reminded how much he accomplished in his life. Because he would never mention it. The world is a better place for his being here.

Dr. Poundstone was a wonderful boss - he respected his Deputy Commissioners and their ideas, even though almost all of us were women. His courage in promoting a no smoking policy was a major achievement at that time in a tobacco growing state. The health department was fortunate to have such a great leader

John was a wonderful person. We were high school lab assistants at the UK,Entomology Dept. In 1956. He was already exceptional ..

He was a special man, a great leader and loved by many who knew him.

I worked with Dr Poundstone at the Lexington Health Dept. He was fine man with a big heart and a great leader. He will be missed.
