Delivered by his son on January 3, 2009
St. Patrick's Church, Aurora, New York

Good morning.

On behalf of my family, I would like to thank you all for coming here today to pay respects to my father, Deacon John Prave. Looking around this congregation, it is clear that my father touched many lives, in many different ways. First and foremost, he was 'John', a loving husband. Also, he was 'Dad', a devoted father. He was 'Papa', an...

Karen,
I am deeply saddened by the loss of John. I don't know if you remember me, I used to be John's next door neighbor on North St and then we graduated from SUNY Oswego in 1964. My wife Joanne and I will be offering sunday's mass for John. I regret that we haven't kept in touch all these years. I wish the best for you and all your children.

Karen,
It has taken me a long time to write a note to you because I really do not know what to say other then I am deeply saddened by John's passing. He was truly a gift to my family when I was a single mother raising three children on my own. He was there when my Mom died and you both were at my children's graduations and I always enjoyed your yearly Christmas letter. May you cherish all your fond memories with John as myself and my family will do the same. Deepest sympathy to you and...
