DOHERTY FUNERAL SERVICE Obituary

John W. Quigley--89, A 62-year resident of Somerville, formerly of Medford where he was raised, died after a long illness on January 18, 2014.

John was the beloved husband of 62 years to Ronaine (Doherty) Quigley and the loving father of Deborah O?Connor and her husband Keith of York, ME, Darlene Murphy and her husband Philip of Medford, Mary Tabatabaie of Newton, Helaine Penney and her husband David of North Andover, Ronaine Sparco and her husband Peter of Stoneham, the late Lorriane Hoberg and her surviving husband Larry of Medford. He was the brother of William, Thomas, Joseph Quigley, Patricia Ferrick and the late Nancy Quigley. John was also the dear grandfather of Matthew, Melissa, Heidi, Laura, Shauna, Dani, Sara, Cameron, Ariana, Justin, Karisa, Kayla, Frankie, and Jon and the great-grandfather of Liam, Fallon, and Ellie.

The funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) in Somerville on Thursday morning, January 23, 2014, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church in Somerville at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 22, from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.

John was a graduate of Medford High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, WWII. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a carpenter at Polaroid Corporation in Cambridge. John was a volunteer at the Chelsea Soldiers Home and a member of the K of C.
