My husband and I were both fortunate to have Dr. Quinn as a prof for many classes at Hope College. He was an outstanding professor and we loved him dearly. We have many memories of him but especially like to think of his laugh. Dear Quinn Family:
John was a wonderful colleague and friend. He was a great storyteller and listener. His love for his family was evident in how he talked about his car trips to Florida, holidays at home and trips to the Smokey’s. He often sat with our family at St. Francis, tolerating the disruptions of four young children during Mass who would fight to be the first to exchange peace with Mr. Quinn. We will miss him greatly.

We his colleagues in Classics at Calvin College mourn the loss of John Quinn, a good friend and excellent scholar with whom we have shared memorable lectures and conversations. For all of his contributions to our field and to the study of Latin and Greek in Michigan we give thanks, and we pray that the peace of Christ may comfort his family in this terrible loss. John and I were friends in graduate school. We spent many a night in the computer lab together finishing papers. I have always considered him one of my dearest friends. My wife, son, and I would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to his family.
