Not sure what to say?

I keep the memory of John as a good man, a good father, and an excellent teacher and colleague.

We met JOhn and Carol only a few occasions, once in HUngary and another time in Akron. We still have the caps CArol made us in 2010. When we met them it was always a very friendly, very humane, very special meeting and occasion. We keep their memories in our heart. Dezso KOvács, JUdit Selyem-Tóth,Pécs, HUngary

Mr. Ramey was a wonderful man. He was most supportive and encouraged me as a social work student, member of Akron City Council, State Representative and public administrator. He taught me that a community should be judged by how we "treat our weakest citizen". His dedication to family, students and community is what I will always remember and appreciate. I last saw and spoke to him at the voting booth (a wonderful lasting memory). Please accept my sincere sympathy.

A wonderful human being and asset to The University of Akron, many communities, nation and world. I was a social work student of "Mr. Ramey" at The University of Akron until I graduated in 1975.

I first met John as an undergraduate social work student at Akron U (graduated 1983). I took several classes with him. He shared a wealth of knowledge and was also one of the the kindest people I have ever met. He encouraged me to go on and receive my MSW. I feel so fortunate that we continued to keep in touch all of these years. He lightheartedly insisted that I call him John once I graduated, but I always thought of him affectionately and respectfully as "Mr. Ramey". I will miss him....

Sally and I were very sad to learn of John's death. We have been involved with John & Carol in bridge club, Akron Symphony and Westminster. They were both dedicated to supporting culture and humanity in our country. We will sorely miss their influence & efforts toward a more civilized society. They were good bridge players with serious intellectual minds and worked hard on their many projects. It was a pleasure to know the girls and their families and we will treasure many stories about...

Absolutely my favorite professor while attending UA in the Social Work Dept. His wealth of life experiences was truly a remarkable teaching tool. His stories of how he would return to the streets of Chicago when there were no classes were captivating. He will certainly be missed by so many.

John (and Carol) were always the beacon of social work with groups. While working on my doctorate and being an adjunct at University of Akron, John and I would talk about the settlement house movement and the implications of that movement on social work. John involved me with the Group Work conference that was in Akron and we continued contact for a number of years beyond the Group Work conference in Ann Arbor. I continued inquiring about John (and Carol) for a number of years as their...

John was one of the finest men I ever have known. He and Carol were very close friends and neighbors of my family, and I will miss him. Please accept my condolences and may blessings and Peace be with you during this time. tom Weller
