Not sure what to say?

I want to thank whomever thought to send a copy of this obituary to my parents. Jeff and I met when we were 16 and spent many happy times together with our friends back then, and stayed in touch through law school. He was a wonderfully funny, kind and compasionate man. He taught me that a great day was when not only the Cubs won but the Sox lost.

I am sad that he has departed from this world too soon, just as he predicted a long time ago. My sincere condolences to his widow and...

During this time of mourning, I would like to express my sincere condolence at the loss of your loved one. May you find comfort in persistent prayers, as “the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your heart and your mental powers.” [Phil. 4:7] I certainly hope that the help God can give at this time will make a difference in your recovery to continue without your loved one.

Although I only had the pleasure of knowing Jeff for just over a year, what a wonderful man he was. When I first came to WK a little over a year ago, I joined his group at the lunch table, with my friend and his admin assistant, Judy. I had lunch with Jeff almost every day and as time went on and we got to know each other better, I realized what a warm, sincere individual he was . . . and of course, we realized that we both loved the CUBS. Oh my gosh, the discussions we had at the lunch...

I first met Jeff in late 2001/early 2002. When he joined to lead our team, I recall that we weren't always the easiest group to manage (myself mostly). However, Jeff showed patience, compassion, and leadership. He taught us to work as a team and to overcome obstacles. These are lessons I took away with me when I left CCH and can only hope to implement with Jeff's level of skill.

As for his kids, there has hardly been a father who cared more for his children than Jeff. It is not...

I worked with Jeff at West Group on the Employment team, and admired his devotion to his job and especially to his team members.
I was looking at a photo of our team with him standing next to Michael Jordan (our mascot), and am filled with sadness and disbelief at his passing. I pray that The Lord will comfort his dear children at this time as well as in the future.

I worked with Jeff at CCH for just about two years in the early 2000s. I learned a great deal from him about the business, and I will always be grateful to him for the encouragement and trust he showed toward my work. He was a great supervisor and mentor, and when he wasn't talking work, he was talking about his kids. I am saddened to hear of his passing, and send my deepest sympathy to his family.

Like many folks who worked with Jeff over the years, I will never forget his generous and patient guidance, especially in the early days of my publishing career. Jeff always carved out time to share his professional experience or to chat about sports, particularly the Cubs and the Bulls during the championship run. I will always remember the lunch breaks spent with him hitting golf balls at a local driving range and the few times we made it to a golf course. I will miss his great smile and...

Kari and Family,

So sorry to hear about Jeff....I enjoyed working with him out at the baseball fields all those years and with the Cougars, and could tell how much he enjoyed being there with his kids.

Our prayers are with you.
