Not sure what to say?

I remember John´s passion for Outward Bound in the early days of its incarnation. He was a bit older than me, and our friendship contained some mentoring as I embarked on my career as an educator steeped in the OB philosophy. I wish I´d seen more of him in the last phase of his life, so I could have expressed my appreciation.

John was passionate about education, and I will always remember his work as exhibits section leader when I was group leader of the Bradbury Science Museum. I offer my condolences to his family and friends.

Dear Michele and Family,
So saddened to hear about John.
He was a force with Nature.
May he be flying kites and running calm rivers....
Fondly, J B Pena

John was my mentor and friend. I cherish the times we shared back in the early 1980s when we were all married and learning how to incorporate our kids into every facet of the jewel that is New Mexico outdoors.

I was proud to have known John, Caitlin, and Justin. Wonderful memories. An educator is right. He educated me many times, with a soft but firm recommendation. His smile was contagious. My prayers are with his family and will cherish the adventures we experienced.

I knew John for a while through Outward Bound USA in the 1980's. I remember and enthusiastic, generous, competent and caring person. I imagine he continued to live by the Outward Bound motto "To serve, to strive and not to yield".

I consider myself very fortunate to have known John being there as a friend and professional. Whenever we were together, he left me with a "nugget." I hope he gained a few of them from me. After reading the obituary, I realize John's gift and strength as an educator, but one who educated painlessly, enthusiastically, and with great caring. A person is lucky if after he "walks on," it can be said, our world is better for having him in it. He was lucky for the life he led, the marriage he...

Although John and I only rode our BMW motorcycles together one time, we made a bond that only fellow enthusiasts of road and two wheels construct. A favorite neighbor of Nancy and Chris, it was always a treat to visit with John and Michelle during our stays with my in-laws. Our heart felt condolences to Michelle and family for the too soon loss of such a spirited man. Lucky for me I carry his story of wild-eyed enjoyment of our swift passage over some lovely back roads in Northern New Mexico...
