John Roach Obituary

ROACH John Vesta Roach passed away in his Pon-chatoula home on Thursday, December 17, 2009. A resident of Ponchatoula, LA for 14 years, he was born in Honeygrove, TX, on November 5, 1926. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific from 1944-1946. He attended the University of Texas and married Jane Burleson on November 22, 1950. John Roach retired as Comptroller of Data Com & Offshore Telephone Company. He was co-founder and for 18 years served as Vice President of New Freedom Institute which served addicted persons and their families. He was a member of the American Management Association and Vice Chairman of the LA Association on Compulsive Gambling. As a Friend of Bill W. for 48 years, he helped hundreds of people make lives for themselves. John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane B. Roach of Ponchatoula, sons James P. Roach of Hammond and Daniel R. Roach of Pecos, NM; daughter Nancy J. Roach of New Orleans, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John Ross Roach and Nervesta Billingsley Roach Foster; and brothers Ross Roach and James Roach. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Interment will follow at Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, LA. Visitation will be on Monday, December 21, 2009 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 11:00 a.m. until service time.
