John was a really great guy, he had many friends. He always had a pleasant smile and greeting when you seen each other. A very dedicated and hard working employee, he did his job with no complaints. I also worked with his brother Julian (Gordo) for some time also a good person. Their mother made the best tamales ever and they shared them with us a lunch time. Beautiful memories of “Papa John” at Lafayette. Oh how the children loved him including my son Cameron. We still about 20 years later hang an ornament he gave Cameron every Christmas. Great love for that man! God Bless❤❤

Papa John was beloved by students, teachers, Principals, and all staff at Lafayette Elementary School for many years. He came when his beloved granddaughter, Alex, was a kindergartener and stayed for many years after seeing her through Elementary School. He was that friend to the shy little child needing a hand and kind smile . He was the volunteer that all the teachers could depend on to be at school everyday from before the first bell until the last bell and beyond doing whatever...
