Dear Patty and family, I was so sad to learn today of John's passing. I met John in September of 1962. We were freshmen at NIU, both History majors and roomed in Lincoln Hall on the fifth floor. We became good friends. Although going our separate ways after graduation, I tried to stay in touch over the years, meeting John for a beer now and then either at Sullivan's in DeKalb, the corner pub in downtown Sycamore and at his home. Very sorry to hear of John's passing this morning. Came as a shock. He was always so kind and positive. You can tell he loved life, his family, friends and community.

It is with great saddness that Brian and I read of John's passing. He was truly a shinning star among all. John will be forever missed, but has left so many memories in our hearts that he will never be forgotten! Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers!
