1920 - 2016

ROONEY, John W. "Jack" Of Dennisport, formerly of Arlington, passed peacefully from this world on July 14, 2016. Born in Somerville, MA, he was married to the late Eileen Rooney in 1944. Together they raised five children. John Rooney, Katherine Dermady, David Rooney, Edward Rooney, and the late Kevin Rooney. He is grandfather to Paula Bradley, Stephen Rooney and Peter Rooney, Ronald Dermady, Colleen Lawlor, Jennifer Dermady, Jennifer Harinandan, Noah Rooney, Jacqueline Rooney and the late Amy Rooney. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren. Retired as Director of Procurement at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, MA where he worked from January 1956 until November 1975. He was an avid golfer at the Dennis courses for many years and put in place many of the Rules and Regulations that are still in use today when he served as president of the Dennis Men's League. Visiting hour will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main St. (Rt. 28) WEST HARWICH, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, 240 Main St. (Rt. 28) West Harwich, MA on Tuesday July 19, 2016 at 10 AM, followed by burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
