I am very sorry for your loss. I knew John for about 35 years on SIRTOA. John was a great guy and when I hear his name I will always smile. John was a fun guy and a very entertaining guy. Frank Sinatra may have sung those words but John Russell really & truly "did it his" way. Smile when his name is spoken or when you read this. Be thankful to God that we all shared sometime with him on this earth & railway.

My condolences to the Russell Family.
I have been with the Railway now for 24 years. I had pride to work under John's direction because he was fair and firm. He used to share old railroad stories while riding in the cab, some involving my Grandfather, who worked in 3rd rail dept while he was the Train Master. Again, my thoughts and prayers for John.

So sorry to hear this sad news. Loved John such a gracious kind man. Taught me , so very patiently most of what i learned about computers. Still use that knowledge. My condolences to his wife and children. He will be forever in my prayers.

John was one of my first bosses as a Dispatcher many moons ago. Always helpful and never backed down to a challenge.
