John Scardina passed away in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The obituary was featured in The Advocate on April 18, 2012.
I had Mr. Scardina was my Advance Math and Trig at SMHS and SU Upward Bound. He would stay on me about doing my best-I was a little lazy. To this day, I still remember his tricks and tips. He held high expectation for me and I hope I did him proud. Thanks for depositing into my life. I will miss him dearly. My prayers and thoughts are with his family during this time. Know that he touch a lot lives in a great way.

What a joyful time to celebrate the life of a wonderful man and teacher. Mr.Scardina taught Geometry at Tara High School. His lectures were well thought out and I could sense that Mr. Scardina truly cared about his students.
My prayers go out to his family. His faith and dedication to his community was just a mere reflection of the blessings of eternal life that he is now enjoying with our Lord, Jesus !

He taught his students at Scotlandville Magnet High school with dilligence and with dispatch. He taught under my administration for eighteen years, delivering "quality" instruction on a daily basis.
