I had the pleasure of meeting and caring for Jack & Betty. I've learned so much from Jack, professionally, personally and emotionally. He has enlightened me on many issues on different levels and I am so appreciative. I will miss Jack and will remember all the things he has taught me including taking care of plants, continued support of the Merchant Marine and the older community.

Jack and Betty,his wife of 70 yrs.,have been wonderful neighbors for the last 14 yrs. We will miss Jack and his "hi ya neighbor" and wish Betty and all their family God's Blessing.

I first met Jack on the WWII veterans trip to Washington DC....He was quite a man and a real American Cowboy. I was glad to assist him in starting the first Merchant Marine Chapter in the State of South Carolina....my prayers go out to Betty and the family...It was also a great pleasure to do a story on his service during WWII!

I knew Jack through Jensens Bingo. He and Betty had the last seats at the first table and Jack would call back the winners card. As a Vet myself I want to say Hooorah To a kind and gentle man that i ever knew.

We can just hear Jack singing the Merchant Marine Hymn, "Heave Ho!, My Lads, Heave Ho!", as he entered his heavenly home. We shall miss you.
