Schmitt, John Malcolm, age 33, baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Wednesday, June 21, 2023. He was born in St. Louis, a son of David M. and Mary (nee Bryce) Schmitt. John was a 2008 graduate of Chaminade High School, and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regis University in 2012.


He is the beloved son of Dave and Mary Schmitt; dear brother of Christopher (Sarah) Schmitt, and Andrew (Brittany) Schmitt; proud uncle of Azalea, Ada, Mabel, and Malcolm Schmitt; and friend and classmate to many.


John was a wonderful artist, enjoyed all types of music and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved snowboarding and hiking in Colorado and exploring te trails of Missouri. He was proud to be a nurse and loved helping other people. He will be missed by many.


Services:  Funeral Mass at the Catholic Student Center of Washington University, 6352 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105, Friday, July 7, 2023, 10:00 a.m. with the family receiving friends at the church 30 minutes prior to Mass. Private Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Louis Area Food Bank, 70 Corporate Woods Dr., Bridgeton, MO 63044. I'm so sorry for this loss. John was always so much fun to be around. Always goofing. Always making voices. His mimicking of Mary or Grandma were so funny, I can still relish in that joy. His presence will be sorely missed.

John was not only a friend, a colleague, and a peer. He was an uncle to my children, Skyler, Chloe, and Logan. He was family. My heart breaks for such a young, kind soul to leave our world so soon. I know we will all see each other again in heaven, when our time comes. As I can only imagine him waiting for all of his loved ones with nothing but a big smile, his goofy giggle, and open arms.
