Not sure what to say?

Marita, my thoughts and prayers (and those of the members of the Miami-Dade Legal Support Association, formerly DCLSA) are with you in the loss of your dear husband, who was a very special and brave man. May memories of your life together and the caring of friends comfort you always.

Tactical officers working in the inner city function best if they bring to the streets the qualities of courage, initiative, reliability and self-discipline. John Scholz had these in abundance and was a role model for his peers, and for the young officers he developed. We all aspired to do as well with our responsibilities as John did, every minute of the day, and enjoy doing so as he did. Truly a special person, a gift to his co-workers, to the profession and to the citizens of the City of...

John was a great police officer, a great friend and truly a great person. He was compassionate to his friends and fellow police officers. Marita know that my family's prayers and sympathy are with you and your family in your time of sorry and will remain with you always.

I worked around John most of my career and I had the utmost respect for him as a police officer, person and a friend. He was a quiet man with few words but when necessary he could assert himself. He was always a friend and excellent back up. RIP my friend. I will see you again.

John and Marita are dear friends. John was our Best Man and Marita officiated at our wedding. John loved boating and being on the water any day of the week. As a couple, they were very close from "Day One".
Dear Marita and Family: We are so sorry for your loss. Our Love and Prayers are with you during these grieving days. Wish we were closer, but please know that you are in our hearts always.

My uncle, and his twin brother Bailey, were my favorite uncles. They always made me laugh. I cherrish every memory. He will be missed greatly. Now he can spend more time with Bailey, Grandpa Dutch, my dad Jerry Pettit and my son Chase Hoover. Rest in peace and we will keep chasing life till we see each other again. Dodi Hoover (Naples, FL)

John was a wonderful man and officer. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with him. He was quiet, but only when it wasn't necessary to be otherwise. He will never be forgotten. RIP and say hello to Angel for me in Heaven. Look my David up as well!

I rode with John back in 1974/75. I was pretty new at the time, and he taught me many things of what being a good street cop was all about. We had many exciting times, whilst riding in one of the highest crime areas of the City of Miami. With out a doubt he was one of the finest street cops I ever knew. We also had many humorous moments as well, during that time. God bless you my friend. Dave Collis (retired M.P.D.)

John was a wonderful person and a great cop. I was fortunate to know and learn from him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time of great sorrow. Take comfort in all the wonderful memories you have and that he is now at peace. Rest in Peace my friend.
