JOHN W. SCHUBERT

I first met John W. Schubert at Joe Ramonds Health Club.......1959....he was competing as a lifter. One of greatest men I have ever met...or lifted for.

Rest in peace powerlifter.

I lifted for John at Olympic Health Club from 1973-1977. The memories of John and Olympic Health Club are too many to even begin to list here. I didn't know at the time just how significant John, OHC, and the friends that I made at OHC would be in my life. I can tell you that many, many times in my life when I was at work listening to some boring meeting, or when life was a little hard, my mind would go back to remembering the meets we went to, or just the general comraderie we had at OHC...

John was a great coach with a lot of patience , traveled with the team in the 70's while John built the strongest weighting team Ohio state ever saw, we would win state titles every year, John coached me in 1977 to 4 national titles and the American record in the snatch, I still remember John saying only a few lifters has ever done that, was in Mexico City for the Pan Am Games and John and I went shopping , we both bought blankets and then traded that night, still have it today in my room,...
