John Davenport "Dee" Scott

I was shocked to see Dee's obituary in yesterday's paper because I thought he passed away long ago. I would have bet money (though not a large sum) that I read of his passing in the Linfield Alumni Magazine ten years ago. I remember being sad because he was much too young, and also a good friend. I too was a Speech major, and we were in many of the same classes. But the mind can play tricks; maybe I reached the conclusion that he was gone because his name doesn't appear on our class list,...

I remember Dee from grade Alameda Grade School and Grant High School. He was always so kind and friendly to me and always willing to help our classmates no matter what the situation was. He always had a nice smile and a wonderful personality.
We will miss him as his family will too.
Dee and family, you are in my prayers.

I lived around the corner from Dee growing up in Portland. We went to Alameda grade school and Grant High together. He was a kind and generous fellow who always helped me when I as in need of something done in wood working, since I was incapable of all but the simplest saw and hammer tasks. We weren't close, but our friendship was pleasant. I always liked him.
