John Stephen Scott Sr.

On May 16, 2009, John Stephen Scott, Sr., age 71 of Havre de Grace, son of the late Euell and Clova Scott, went home to be with the Lord. John is the beloved husband of Polly Scott; brother of Thomas Scott father of John Stephen Scott, Jr., Kenneth Scott, James Scott Anderson, and Kathy Anderson; grandfather of Whitney, Brandon, and Christopher Anderson, Kayla Anderson-Armacost, Lyndsey and Owen Scott, and Trisha Easley. John retired from Harford County Public Schools after 37 years of service. He worked the majority of his career as a middle school science teacher at Aberdeen Middle School. After his semi-retirement, John became a guidance counselor at Edgewood Middle School for 2 years. He was an active member of the Aberdeen Lions Club for 10 years and a member of the Johns Hopkins University Alumni. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and playing golf. Everyone that has known John is invited to celebrate his life at a visitation on Thursday, May 21 from 4-7 pm at the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home, P.A. where a memorial service conducted by Pastor Jeff Owens will begin at 6:30pm. Interment will take place at Harford Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to the Johns Hopkins University, 100 N. Charles St., Suite 400, Baltimore, MD 21201, in memory of John S. Scott, Sr. for Transverse Myelitis research.
