Not sure what to say?

I just came across John's obituary, and though sorry to find that he has passed, have great joy in the life he lived, and his years of service to the Lord and to his community. I was privileged to play in Jubal Brass from 1975-1980, and always appreciated John's manner and musicianship. Such fond, wonderful memories. My belated sympathies to the family. Sincerely, Judy [Nelson] Barber, Greenville, NC

Mr. Scripps was my first music teacher (clarinet)back in 1952 at J&J Music on S. Division. Later he taught me the tuba, and, later still, he invited me to conduct Jubal Brass. Through all those years John was a mentor, a friend, an esteemed colleague, and most of all, an influential example of what a Christian should be. My life is all the richer because of him. See you in heaven some day John Scripps.

My condolences to the Scripps family. John was always good and kind to me. He helped me get the band program started at Ada Christian and then continued to help me as a teacher at Northview. I am thankful for his influence in my life.

Among the greatest men I've ever had
the privilege of knowing. Truly an example
of what a Christian gentleman is expected to be.
I will miss John greatly, until we meet again in heaven.
Hap Hecker, Calvin CRC

Uncle John your presence on this earth were a blessing to all who knew you. You will be dearly missed but i know I am better for having you as an Uncle.

John was such a dear friend of my father's - Neil DeMey. I wonder what the two of them are doing now? I like to think that somehow they are making fine music together - John on the trumpet and my dad on the clarinet. What a privilege to have fathers who were music lovers!

My sympathies to the Scripps family; John was my favorite trumpet player.
