John R. Sellman

I left L.A. in 2011 and hadn't been in contact with Dr. Sellman, only today learning of his passing. He was everything anyone would want in a physician and I referred to him as having the demeanor of a wise "country doctor". I can't imagine what kind of shape I'd be in without his guidance and care. He encouraged me to find ways to deal with my abundance of physical problems instead of trying to push me into surgeries and treatments that would only have worsened the issues. Therefore he...

Dr. Sellman fixed my Achilles tendon in 1984 and I made a full recovery. I remember his kindness, patience and confidence. Grateful to have been his patient.

I took my husband into John's office in a wheelchair. His knee was blown up and he was in excruciating pain. John put him on a table, gave him shots, adjusted his leg, drew out tons of fluid from his knee and told him to get off the table and walk. My husband was astounded to find he really COULD walk!! Over the years, we were always happy to see his face and know he was there to help. He was a wonderful person and a fine doctor--with a marvelous sense of humor!!

You were a very good and gifted man, John. Thanks for all you did for others. You will be missed.

I only heard of John's passing very belatedly. He and I shared every grade in school from K through Med School. He was as honest, hardworking, and consistent as a man could be. God Bless him. He leaves a wonderful memory.
