John Gouldin Ross Shackelford John Gouldin Ross Shackelford, 40, of Culpeper, formerly of Kinsale and Tappahannock passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013. Ross is survived by his father and stepmother, John W. and Gloria Shackelford and stepsister, Christina Wade, all of Culpeper; his mother and stepfather, Stephanie and Bobby Sanford; sister, Mildred Lee Sanford; nephew, J.B. Whitley; grandmother, Mildred Sanford all of Kinsale and his aunts, Melanie Marion of Glen Allen and Nora Beazley of Tappahannock. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Dunbrooke. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tappahannock Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 807, Tappahannock, VA 22560 or the Tappahannock-Essex Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 583, Tappahannock, VA 22560.

Ross: I have known you for 20 years. You were always very nice and kind hearted to me and my family. I will never forget our many conversations and laughs we shared. Rest In Peace my friend. You will be missed, but forever in our hearts.

Ross you were a true devoted employee. You gave up your personal time in evenings and week ends to give me a break or fill in for other employees during my business at The 29 Food Mart. Although you were a full-time employee at a Building Supply Company in Warrenton you were devoted and faithful to my business as well. What a wonderful and great person inside and out. Ross was a loyal and helpful presence at Hope Community Church of the Nazarene in Culpeper, VA. His friendly smile and conversation will be missed. May his family and friends find comfort knowing he is in Heaven.
