On behalf of the family of John's lifelong friend, Richard C. Sexton, Jr., I send our condolences to Helen and their children. He had a spectacular life and we are proud to have known him.

We will greatly miss John B, a great man. He was a storehouse of knowledge on gardening and the forestry. I was always amazed at how he was able to overcome the difficulties of growing up in Appalachia and earning a scholarship and a PH.D. from Harvard University. I always enjoyed taking him Granger County tomatoes on our trips to Knoxville from Atlanta. We have fondest memories of him. From Frank and Pearl Sharp.
