I began taking lessons with John in Little Silver when I was about 7 years old. For the better part of 10 years, John taught me everything from diversity of baseline shots, to serving at spots instead of simply serving to my opposition. He took me from a good player to a great player and enabled me with the skills to win a New Jersey State Championship when I was 16. To the Shaw family. I'm extremely sorry for your loss. John was a great coach to me and essentially got me to play college Div1 tennis. I will always remember him reaching out to me throughout my career and his tough tactics to get me back on track. I dreaded but loved our sessions together and i'm sure many felt the same.
