I had the pleasure of being one of Captain Jack´s tenants when I lived on Folly Beach right out of college in 2005. I rented from him for 2 great years and lost touch over the years. We had some great times. He loved his 2 boxers Tomiley and Ishtar. Learned so much about the ocean. In fact he did catch the Largest Tiger shark ever off the Coast of Folly he fought it for 8 hours. There was a mishap somehow and it was unofficial.

I taught with Jack in the Christianity Department at Mercer University for a few years. Widely read, he was superior with a New Testament in his hands. He always presented a cordial and friendly face to me, and I am grateful that our paths crossed, if for only a few years. Walter "Buddy" Shurden
