Thank you to everyone for leaving messages. They are very comforting to read. It is hard to believe he is gone, but lovely to hear what an impression John made with his life. -- a sister

I am very sorry to learn of John's passing. I knew him from the Daily News, going back to when we first introduced color. He was a real pro, with the highest standards, who would accept nothing but the best. I always admired that about him. My deepest sympathy to his family.

It was my pleasure to have the office next to his at the Philadelphia Daily News. I would stick my head into his from time to time to see what what cover he was designing for the next day. He'd even write the headlines - some of which made it into the paper. He was a true creative genius, who spoke often of his family. He will be missed. Jenice Armstrong, Phila. Daily news

So sorry to hear about John's passing. The world is now truly missing an amazing man.

As a former classmate from Bishop Ludden, I send my deepest condolences to John's family. I knew John to be jovial, kind and talented. We both spent a good deal of time in Sister Frances Agnes's art classroom, so I got to see John in action. He always inspired laughter in his classmates, was full of energy and displayed extraordinary talent. He will be missed by all who knew him. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

My prayers and condolences to the entire Sherlock family. I have n't seen John for several years but I remember the years from Ludden very well. Good man and taken away at way too young an age. Cherish his memories and let him live in your hearts forever

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. What an honor to have known John

To The Family.....
We have just heard about John and his passing from this earth. He may not be here but he will always be with us till we are no longer of this earth.
In the twelve or so years that we have known him with us being in the Hudson club, we enjoyed so much being around him and his lightheartedness. His love of family and Hudsons were what his life revolved around. We will miss him and will have thoughts of him always.
