Not sure what to say?

Very saddened to hear of John's passing. Seven years have passed but I can easily recall the bright, warm spirit leaping about stacks of books and always engaging one in conversation over this or that book at hand. Many people may not be aware of his amazing warmth and generosity, always looking to help out a friend. He was the consummate book man, but so much more. A gentle soul, with an engaging smile, extremely knowledgeable about books, yet always eager to learn new things from his...

John will be remembered as a bright, humorous, and decent man. Heckuva ball player, too!

John and I were together for only 9 months but our shared history spans 4 decades. It's interesting to me how things turn out. Just when you think that "that's all there is"....you meet a thoughtful and kind man who makes you laugh, challenges your brain, and offers you that kind of love that will never be duplicated.

I only met him a few times but enjoyed meeting him, he made a dear friend of mine very happy. Nancy Haines (Lutz, Fl.)

My sweet John.....gone too soon.

He was a great guy and brought insight and joy to many lives. And thanks Phil-- I completely forgot that his nickname was Sheev. As his sister I should have remembered that! Paula

John always had such a sharp mind. As kids, it was strategic to have him on your "Risk" team, for sure! I loved his laugh -it was infectious. He will be missed by family and friends- entirely too soon for him to leave us.

Sheev, as he was known to us in high school, is and was a great guy! One heck of a basketball player who truly loved books. You would be hard pressed to find a better read high school student than he. He will be missed.

Sounds like a great guy. I'm sorry for your loss.
