John Shou

I am so sad to have found John's obituary. I have been trying to find him for some time, if only to tell him I have not forgotten his sweet kindness to me back in 1980, when I came to SF without knowing a soul and without much money. Within a few days, I was renting a room in John's home on York Street. He was funny, sweet, incredibly talented and generous. John's legacy is immeasurable - his unique perspective on life and art cannot be duplicated - he owned it. My friendship of 33 years with John is the highlight of my life - his imprint on my psyche is a part of me forever. John had integrity, class, a tender heart, and impenetrable conviction - completely incorruptible. His body of work - masterpieces - will live forever.
