I've been in Johnny and Gloria Shupe's life almost 59 years. So many wonderful memories when I visited their home every summer growing up. They are family and we spend lots of time together over the years. He was a wonderful caring gentleman. Never met a stranger because he loved to talk. He would always lend a helping hand. I know he will be truly missed by Gloria, family and friends. His body got tired and wanted to rest. Now he is in Heaven ( I know dancing in his cow boy boots) like he...

Ronnie, Karen, Macy, Sam and Travis and the entire Shupe Family. I am so sorry to learn of the death of your Dad and grandfather but know that he is in a better place now and is without all that pain and suffering. On the few occasions that I met him, he was a really happy and sweet person and I really enjoyed talking to him especially the time he told me he had just lost his new glasses but not to tell Gloria. My prayers are with the entire family at this time.

If Mr. Shupe wasn't there, it just wasn't a softball game. It didn't matter if it was 110 or 25 degrees, he was there cheering, coaching, telling stories and just being him! The entire Varina Community will miss him! My favorite memory is the year we were all in Staunton for 4th of July and we had the cook out and played softball in the hotel courtyard! Boy did he have fun! We are thinking about you Gloria and the whole family!
