John Junior Simmons

JOHN JUNIOR SIMMONS departed his life on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at The Hundley Center, South Hill, Virginia.  He was born on March 17, 1948, to Lincoln Simmons and Mary Jane Valentine Simmons.  His father preceded him in death.

John was educated in the Mecklenburg County, Virginia school system and graduated from West End High School in June 1967. He worked in the manufacturing industry as a long-time employee with Virginia Homes, located in Boydton, VA, and Narricot Industries located in South Hill, VA. 

John was a quiet, soft-spoken man who enjoyed fishing and watching westerns.  He could probably name most of the actors and the characters they played. He was loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his life: his son, John Simmons (Tamara) of Brodnax, VA; his daughter, Karisma Lee of Roanoke, VA; his granddaughter, Akerah Mangum of Roanoke, VA; his mother, Mary Jane Simmons of Richmond, VA; his sister, Catherine Lee of Richmond, VA; special and devoted cousins, Calvin and Gladys Williams of Chase City, VA; and a host of other loving family and friends. 

A Visitation will be held from 11 am until 4 pm, Monday, December 27, 2021 at Oris P. Jones Funeral Establishment, 301 West Atlantic Street, South Hill, VA.  Family and friends are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing while attending.
