John Simonetti FISHERSVILLE John Rocco Simonetti husband of Marguerite Tankesley Simonetti, of 64 years went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville. He was born to the late Rocco and Angelina Geronimo Simonetti on November 20, 1919. He served in World War II. Prior to retirement Mr. Simonetti was employed by A&P Food Stores as a meat cutter. He was a longtime Pigeon Associate, and enjoyed spending most of his time at Rocky' s Antique Mall. Mr. Simonetti loved fishing, not only with his family, but also with his fishing friends Lewis and Mike Ratliff. A man of great faith, he was a devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Staunton. John loved his family dearly and will be remembered as a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grand-father, and uncle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen and Frank Simonetti; three sisters, Mary Panza, Lee Dennis, and Grace Gardener; and one special-niece, Alice Tankesley. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tammy Arbogast and her husband, David; three sons, Rocky and his wife, Brenda, Ricky and his wife, Ellen, and Anthony "Tony" and his wife, Tilly; grandchildren, Chris, Stephen "Slick", Johnny, Scott, and Angie Simonetti. Ellie Zullig, Shawn and Kevin Showalter, Brad and Todd Harris, Kevina Caricofe, Josh and B.J. Santo' s, Kirby and Tabitha Arbogast, Melissa Brown, and Holly Wilkens; 25 great grandchildren; nephews, Joe and John Tankesley, Ricky and Stephen Simonetti; special nephews, Frankie Tankesley, Nicki Panza, and Billy Simonetti; nieces, Anne Basille, Angela Cartier; and one special niece, Jeannie Brown. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Hanna and Dr. LaGrua, as well as AMC Hospice of the Shenandoah for the care and concern they provided. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at atn St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 121 N. Augusta Street, Staunton, by Father Thomas Collins. Interment will follow at Thornrose Cemetery. John' s grandsons will honor him by serving as Pallbearers. John' s granddaughters, as well as Lester Anderson, will honor him by serving as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2008, at the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 18 West Frederick Street. A Christian Prayer Service will be held at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to AMC Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939.
