It is with great sadness that the family of John S. Skaggs announces his passing on July 8, 2018 at the young age of 63. Not sure what to say?

I taught with John for many years, both at Woodlake Elementary and at Strauch. We grew old together, teaching children in North Sacramento. I loved it when John taught 5th grade and I would get his students as 6th graders. They knew how to write complete sentence answers, and they answered my questions with a sentence rather than just a yes, no, or a scrunched shoulder. When John joined me in 6th grade, he was a tremendous partner. He was always calm and positive. I can honestly say I enjoyed...

I knew John back in the 70s. My father owned a gas station on Howe and El Camino. John and his friends would come in to visit one of Dad's employees named Dan. I got to know him though Dan and the rest of the gang too..Don, Vern, Lisa, and various other characters....a real nice bunch of folks. John was soft spoken, kind and pretty darn funny. My condolences to his sister Becky and the family.

I worked with John in his classroom when computers were first introduced. John was always so sweet and accommodating. He was a joy to work with. I felt I got to know him better through my daughter Melissa. She worked with him at Strauch and she and her husband became fast friends, doing activities outside of school. She would have been so sad. Life takes such strange turns. Missing John.

John was a true friend full of adventure who lived a non-materialistic, healthy lifestyle. I will miss his keen sense of humor, contagious laughter and gentle nature. John will be remembered for his positive outlook on life.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with John and he was a great guy and will forever be missed,

I'm so saddened to hear of John's death. I met John and some of his friends as a teenager at Howe Avenue Park at the swimming pool! I haven't heard from him in years but thought of him often
He was full of life, loved adventure, tall, extremely handsome, so very funny, kind, thoughtful, helping hand, and the most amazing smile ever! I was able to visit him one summer when he was working at Yellowstone. I still have the pictures from that trip. He was my first real crush and I remember...

Our deepest condolences. It's so sad that he passed away so young. I have found memories of John at Howe Avenue Pool. This is your cousin Gary (Nora's son). Give me a call at 916-838-5485 if you would like to chat. Prayers and Hugs.
