I was a customer and friend of Wally's for almost 20 years. I think I enjoy collecting things - all kinds of things - almost as much as Wally did. Rarely did a week go by before Wally would call me to tell me he had something I might be interested in. He was usually right. There was always a story that went along with whatever it was he had to show me, so I got them in the deal, as well. We collected a lot of the same kinds of things and he got me interested in other things I might have never...

Wally was a man who shared my passion as a paper person. You could look at his eyes as he was telling you about a piece & see his pleasure. I feel very fortunate to have known him. Spending time with him at the Caxton building or at Bancrofts was a hoot that we can't experience any more. Stories of times with Dali or on the British Isles during the war are things we can hear from few people ever again. I'm very thankful he gave me some of his time, and will miss him.

My uncle Wally was an individual as rare and priceless as his beloved antiques! He led a very interesting life, being involved with art and artifacts, as well as what was probably the most extensive collection of "frog," memorabilia in the world. He was also very generous and many of his relatives have pictures or books or some other "treasure," he presented to us over the years. In recent years I had been talking to him about our genealogy and roots, as he had presented a book entitled "My...

Uncle Wally was a very interesting and unique character. One of my fondest memories is visiting his apartment which, as my brother John mentioned previously, reminded me of an antique gallery or museum. He always held a special interest in the Skinner family geneology. I am still in possession of a book that he presented to me in 1990 entitled "My Mother's Girlhood" which I believe was written by the sister of my Grandfather, George Nelden Van Deusen Skinner. It chronicles the early...

I have very fond memories of my Uncle Wallace. Every year when my parents would visit my Mother's parents on their farm in Cambridge, Ohio, I would visit also with my Uncle in Cleveland, Ohio. His apartment was like an antique shop, and I will always remember my fascination with all his historical items. While staying at my Uncle's house, we would do a lot of fun things: going to massive flea markets, collecting more MAD magazines for the collection my Uncle started for me, and also visiting...

Wally and I were the oldest and youngest in our Family. In earlier years we saw him more regularly at our yearly visits to mom and Dads. Then later at our sister Lauretta's. After they were gone we met less frequently. However he did attend our son John's wedding and we spoke frequently by telephone. Joe and I will miss you. Rest in Peace Dear Brother.
