Gifford sent this.

I extend my deepest sympathy to the entire Slater family.
Jack gave me my first job following my active duty discharge from the U.S. Army Reserve as a salesman at Product Engineering magazine in Pittsburgh, Pa my hometown.

My Dad

My Favorite Things Are Bats by Kristin Slater ` Bats are very nice if you meet one. How do I know this? I met one, it flew in my window. It looked more scared of me than I was. My Dad came in and it flew back out. But I was scared too. I first saw a bat when I was two. It was in September. I liked to ride in the wheelbarrow. I asked my Dad to take me in the wheelbarrow, so he did. There were black things flying everywhere. My Dad said they were bats. That is why I like bats.
