My sympathy and condolences in the loss of John extended to the entire Slater family. I am a retired Illinois Central & Amtrak Locomotive Engineer who worked with John and his brother Connie over 40 years ago and my grandfather was also an Engineer who worked with John and Connie's Dad C.P.
