Not sure what to say?

I'm sorry to be so late in getting the news of John's passing. We did not keep in touch after high school except for a surprise visit he made to my wife and I at about the time I was beginning my teaching career in 1970. He was in uniform that day and quite happy and confident as I remember. He had a hard time believing I was pursuing a career in education since he and I had made bothering or playing tricks on our high school teachers a regular activity. Nancy, Nate & Robin,

Our prayers are with you during this sorrowful time.

Big John touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with. He had an unforgettable smile and a natural careing for other people. John loved his family and friends dearly. He was always the first to lend a hand if you needed help. He could truly light up a room just by walking in. For the last two and a half years Big John shared his experience, stength and hope with me on a daily basis. For this I will be forever grateful. He will be missed by many.

John has always been an island of wisdom,light-heartedness and encouragement for us. Although he was based in Boise, North Idaho will certainly miss his masterful
touch.We will miss you,John.

Nancy and Nate,
Words can not express our deepest sorrow and condolence. We are heartbroken over loosing such a dear friend. John will always be in our hearts and prayers.
I had the honor of meeting and knowing John Slonaker 28 years ago while in Colorado. We were both so young but John was special. John had the forsight to really appreciate the simple things in life like biking, nature, animals, American Indian art, and of course loving Nancy.
John was a great teacher and story...

Nate,
Your Father was a very, very fine man and a great friend to many who knew him. While listening to a song today "The Rock of Your Love" I thought of what a "Rock" John was for so many others. And how when the storms filled his life, he stood solid on the Rock of God's Love and witnessed that Faith to others. Please let your Mom know that I am praying for you both and that your Dad had many, many friends who loved him very much. Don't forget he is always with you and you can call...
