In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John Joseph Sook, who passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on September 22, 2025.
Born and raised in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, he carried a piece of the Badger State with him throughout his long life. A proud graduate of North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, he built a life defined by unwavering spirit, a quick wit, and deep devotion to his family.
His world revolved around his family and friends. Nothing brought him greater joy than time spent with his three children, Deb (John) Hudson, Judi Andersson, and David (Carleen) Sook, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The family had the great fortune to gather and celebrate his 90th birthday earlier this year. He talked often about how special this occasion was.
His sharp sense of humor and stubborn streak were legendary, making him an endearing and unforgettable man to all who knew him. He was an avid Sheepshead player and gathered with his buddies at the "saloon" to enjoy cards, lunch, and conversation. John loved a good British mystery and often watched his favorite PBS shows.
He is preceded in death by his cherished wife (Joanne) of many years. His family takes comfort in knowing they are now rejoined, together again in peace and love.
During his final months, he received remarkable care. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate team of caregivers, especially Rachel, whose exceptional kindness, patience, and warmth brought comfort and peace during a difficult time.
A private service will be held to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, donations are kindly requested to the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay's ASP program, in which he generously volunteered his time and talents, a place that held deep meaning for him.
His legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever celebrated.
