John Joseph Spanitz, Sr., 85, of Coplay, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. Born December 24, 1932 in Whitehall, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Kutchera) Spanitz. John was a dedicated member of St. John the Baptist Church, Stiles. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors: children, John, Jr. and wife, Patricia, Denise Bodish and husband, Louis, Terese Haas and Danette Koons and husband, William; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Frank and wife, Anna; nieces and nephews.

Services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 2nd at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 3024 S. Ruch St., Whitehall. Family and friends may call Saturday 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors.
