I had the honor of being one of Mr. Steele's students at South High as my french instructor and am truly saddened to find out of his passing. Years after taking his class I would randomly run into him at a store and he would always greet me in French and expect me to answer. Talk about putting me on the spot. Yikes. Absolutely one of the best teachers I ever had. Thank you for your kindness, passion to teach, and memories I'll hold onto forever.

John was a good man, always able to listen to others. He had a good sense of humor and he expected students to do their work. John was a character and he brought joy to people. He was also a hard worker who cared about his students. see you in heaven John!!!
