Mr. John N. Stilian, age 88, of Groveland, formerly of Lynn, died suddenly, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday September 30, 2012, at the Merrimac Valley Hospital, Haverhill. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (MacNichol) Stilian. Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Chryssi (Gabrielidis) Stilian. He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School and of the Franklin Tech Institute. He moved to Groveland in 1989. John was a US Army Veteran of World War II, serving in both France and Germany. After returning from the service, he worked for GE for 14 years. In 1958 John went to work for the City of Lynn as an electrician. He later would become an electrical inspector and assistant city electrician and finally the head of the electrical department as the city electrician, a position he held until his retirement in 1991. A member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, he was also a former member of the board of directors of the Community Credit Union, a member of the LVTI Advisory Committee, a member of the "Department Heads Association, the Inspectors Association, and the Essex County Signal Association. He was a member of the Masons, Mt. Carmel Lodge, the Shiners, and AHEPA, where he was also a Past President. John had also assisted his sons in the founding of Stilian Electric, of Georgetown, MA, in 1979. He also enjoyed spending time with his son Bob and the many friends that he made at the family restaurant Old Tyme Italian Restaurant in Lynn. He is survived by 2 sons James Stilian and his wife Diane, of NH, Robert Stilian, of Lynn, 1 daughter Cathy Pallone, of NH, 2 stepchildren Ronald Russell and his wife Lorraine, of NH, and Mary Steele and her husband Bud, of NH, 2 brothers George and Gabriel Stilian, both of Florida, 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late George Stilian. His Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9am from the SOLIMINE LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME 426 BROADWAY (RTE129), LYNN, followed by a Funeral Service at 10am in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hour's Wednesday 4pm-7pm.
