Not sure what to say?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I use to cut Jack's hair in the Windsor salon and he was a very classy man and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed.

We have so many memories of Jack (and Ellie) from our church at First Presbyterian of River Forest. Jack was active in Sunday education classes for adults. He attended our wedding. Jack was also the superintendent of OPRF high school when my father and I were the school's insurance agency. We were close with his son Dan until he left for Mexico and got married. Jack was a major Christian man in our lives setting an example for us in how to live. Dan & Carol Browne, Oak Park, IL

I will never forget the energy and enthusiasm he displayed during our pep rallies at Guilford. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to see him at our 50th high school reunion held at Rockford Country Club. Dr. Swanson was an amazing man and will be fondly remembered by many. Sincere condolences to his family.

Dr. Swanson was the principal of Guilford when I was there. I remember he rode his bike to work often. Asked us students not to honk, even if it was a friendly honk. He also invented the cheer: East is East, and West is West, but in Rockford, Guilford's best. He was a wonderful principal, but even a better man. The world is a better place because of him.

I went all four years of high school (1964-1968) at Guilford High School in Rockford, Illinois. During that time Dr. Swanson was our principal. He was such a great leader, kind and gentle administrator. I feel privileged to have known him.

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
